What is the meaning of an artist? According to
Webster’s Dictionary, an artist is one who creates
works of art, public entertainer. Hasan Johnson,
also known as ‘Da Artist’, is such an artist, and more. Who is ‘Da Artist’ Hasan Johnson? He is a diverse entrepreneur who creates comics, paints murals, designs graphics, and even styles hair as a professional barber.

Hasan (which means one who beautifies or makes
things better) has been an artist since the age of five.
He utilizes his artistic ability in order to put his mind on paper. His imagination never stops progressing as he credits his father for the encouragement. The emotion and depth to his illustrations resonate through each stroke. ‘Da Artist’ responds to other artist’s intense
skills by stating, “If you could do it, why not I?”

Though a cartoonist at heart, in his teenage years he began to express his creativity through other media
such as music, poetry, and styling hair. His experience
in the United States Air Force has also enabled him to elevate his creativity to the next plateau. He has painted murals overseas as well as in the United States. One of his most recent works is a ‘Stop The Violence” Project Pick Me Up mural located in Queens, NYC (Archer Avenue and Parsons Boulevard).

Among all his endeavors, this multi talented artist’s
main focus is animating his life as a barber in his cartoon titled,’Da Shop’. His goal is to reach the world through his animation and teach positive messages to the youth. When asked where he gets his motivation, he states, “God is a strong force in my life. Had He not told me what to do with my talents, I would not have gotten this far. He keeps me excited like a child, waiting to see what’s next to come!” Da Artist has us all excited. There is no telling where his mind will take us next. Watch the magic happen.
